Predictive Third-Party Shipping Intelligence for NetSuite.
3rd-party shipping, predictive costing, and actuals true-up.
Predictive Third-Party Shipping Intelligence for NetSuite detects freight charged to your carrier account, including parcels your vendors ship on your account, estimates the cost, and bills the customer before the carrier invoice arrives. It matches every shipment to the right NetSuite transaction, then trues up to the actual carrier cost. Recovered freight, captured in your system of record.
Freight lands on your account, and you find out last.
Vendors and suppliers ship on your carrier account every day. Those parcels move under your account number, the freight is charged to you, and the first time finance sees it is when the carrier invoice arrives, days or weeks after the order shipped. By then the invoice may be closed and the shipping charge is eaten rather than billed.
It is a measurable leak. FedEx and UPS each add a third-party billing surcharge of about 4.5 percent on shipments billed to your account, and distributors commonly recover only a fraction of the freight they pay. Stock NetSuite records that an order shipped, but it does not detect freight that arrives on your account from someone else.
Predictive Third-Party Shipping Intelligence closes that gap inside NetSuite. It sees the freight when it posts, bills it while the order is still open, and reconciles to the actual cost when the carrier bill lands.
What Predictive Third-Party Shipping Intelligence does.
Detect freight on your account
Watches your carrier account for every shipment charged to it, including parcels a vendor or third party ships on your account number through blind shipping or third-party billing. Freight that used to arrive unseen is surfaced the moment it happens.
Bill before the carrier bills you
Estimates the freight on detection and bills the customer immediately, so shipping revenue is captured before the carrier invoice arrives, days or weeks later. Freight that hits your account is recovered, not absorbed.
Intelligent transaction matching
Matches each shipment to the right sales order and fulfillment with a multi-level confidence engine: tracking number, reference, address, then weighted scoring. The freight lands on the correct transaction without manual lookup.
Rate audit and remediation
Validates carrier rates and surcharges, flags missing or anomalous charges, and re-queries to correct them in batch, so a mispriced shipment does not quietly distort margin.
True-up to actual cost
When the carrier bill lands, the booked estimate is reconciled to the actual amount invoiced. The correcting adjustment posts back to NetSuite with proportional allocation, so cost of goods sold stays accurate.
Native to NetSuite
Shipment data, rate logic, billing, and cost adjustments live inside NetSuite as a SuiteCloud application. There is no separate system of record to reconcile and no nightly sync to trust.
Built for distributors whose vendors ship on their account.
The value is largest where third-party and blind shipping on your account is the norm: drop-ship freight billed to your account, where a vendor ships straight to your customer and the charge lands on you. Promotional products distribution is the clearest fit: decorators and suppliers drop-ship decorated goods directly to the end customer on the distributor account. Contract apparel decoration, office and janitorial supply dealers, and trade-print and signage brokers share the same pattern. Any NetSuite distributor with high parcel volume and freight billed to customers recovers margin that is otherwise lost.
Not a shipping app. Not a parcel audit tool.
Shipping apps rate and label the parcels you send outbound. Freight audit software and parcel audit software review the carrier invoices you have already received and claw back overcharges after the fact. Both look at shipments you originated or invoices you already hold.
Predictive Third-Party Shipping Intelligence looks at the freight arriving on your account from anyone, matches it to the right order, and bills your customer for it before the carrier bills you. It converts a post-invoice dispute into pre-invoice recovered revenue, and it does it inside NetSuite rather than in a spreadsheet beside it.
Built inside NetSuite, not bolted onto it.
The application is a SuiteCloud build: SuiteScript, custom records, Map/Reduce processing, and RESTlets, deployed through the SuiteCloud Development Framework. Shipment data, rate logic, billing, and cost adjustments live in NetSuite, so there is no separate system of record to reconcile and no nightly sync to trust.

Predictive Third-Party Shipping Intelligence for NetSuite: frequently asked questions
- What is Predictive Third-Party Shipping Intelligence for NetSuite?
- Predictive Third-Party Shipping Intelligence for NetSuite is a SuiteCloud-native application that detects freight charged to your carrier account, including shipments vendors send on your account, estimates the cost, bills the customer before the carrier invoice arrives, matches each shipment to the right NetSuite transaction, and trues up to the actual carrier cost once the bill lands.
- What is third-party billing and blind shipping on a carrier account?
- Third-party billing is when a shipment moves on your carrier account number even though someone else, often a vendor or drop-ship supplier, creates the label. Blind shipping is the related practice of a supplier shipping directly to your customer under your identity. Both put freight on your account that you did not originate, which is easy to miss and bill late. FedEx and UPS each assess a third-party billing surcharge of about 4.5 percent, so unmanaged third-party freight carries a real premium.
- How do you bill freight before the carrier invoice arrives?
- The application detects the shipment as soon as it posts to your carrier account and estimates the freight from rate data and surcharge rules. It bills the customer on that estimate immediately rather than waiting for the carrier invoice, which typically arrives days or weeks later. You recover the shipping charge while the order is still active instead of after the invoice has closed.
- What is the intelligent matching?
- Shipment data rarely arrives with a clean order reference, so the application matches each shipment to a sales order and item fulfillment using a multi-level confidence hierarchy: an exact tracking or suborder match first, then sales-order or purchase-order reference, then ship-to address, then weighted fuzzy scoring, with manual override as the final step. This is what lets freight land on the correct transaction automatically.
- Which carriers and shipment types does it support?
- The design is multi-carrier and parcel-oriented, with deep support for FedEx services including Ground, Express, and SmartPost, plus negotiated rates and surcharges. The architecture handles additional parcel carriers such as UPS, and rate data can be sourced from external rating systems where a business already uses them.
- How is this different from a shipping app or a parcel audit tool?
- Shipping apps rate and label the parcels you send outbound. Parcel audit tools review the carrier invoices you have already received and claw back overcharges after the fact. Predictive Third-Party Shipping Intelligence does neither of those: it detects freight that lands on your account, including vendor shipments, and bills your customer for it before the carrier bills you, inside NetSuite. It turns a post-invoice dispute into pre-invoice recovered revenue.
- Which businesses get the most value from it?
- Distributors whose vendors ship on the distributor account number see the largest gain. Promotional products distribution is the clearest fit, where decorators and suppliers blind-ship orders on the distributor account, followed by contract apparel decoration, office and janitorial supply dealers, and trade-print and signage brokers. Any NetSuite business with high parcel volume and freight billed to customers benefits.
- Does it handle drop-ship freight billed to your account?
- Yes. The most common case is a vendor or supplier that drop-ships an order directly to your customer on your carrier account, so the freight lands on your account without an invoice line. The application detects that drop-ship freight, estimates it, bills your customer, matches it to the right order, and trues up to the actual carrier cost. This is the leak that drop-ship distributors, especially in promotional products, lose margin to.
- Do you also provide NetSuite implementation or advisory?
- Lightbridge Software builds and supports the product. NetSuite selection, implementation, optimization, and advisory are delivered by Lightbridge ERP, an independent vendor-neutral ERP advisory firm in the Lightbridge group. If you need help with the wider NetSuite account around the freight workflow, Lightbridge ERP is the right starting point.
